A tweet by the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari condoling Burundi for the death of its president, Pierre Nkurunziza has received very harsh response on social media.
Nkurunziza has been in power for the past 15 years, from 2005 till his death on Monday, June 8.
Buhari had taken to his official twitter handle, @MBuhari to write, “It is with profound grief and sadness that we received the news of the death of President Pierre Nkurunziza.
“President Nkurunziza was a true patriot that steered the country through turbulent times with wisdom and foresight.
“At this time of great pain & loss,the Government and people of Nigeria as well as myself, express our deepest condolences to the Government and people of Burundi. “
“Our thoughts & prayers also go out to the family of the President. May God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
Responding, a twitter user with the handle, @better_soup said, “And they are killing Nigerians in your backyard o.
“U will not say pim. It is the one that did not concern u very much that u will be writing paragraph for. The people of katsina and Sokoto are being killed. Southern Kaduna and Plateau too. Are u even aware?”
Another response from @aa_ambassador brought a personal matter on board, his tweet read, “Pls baba @npower_ng are dying.

Former Lagos governorship aspirant, Babatunde Gbadamasi, using the handle, @9jamuncha, wrote, “Nkuruziza was a dictator and despot who altered the constitution to stay in power.
“There is no peace foe dictators and tyrants. Let’s follow each other and leave Buhari alone.”
